After the stressful shopping season and the constant cry of kids saying "I want that for Christmas", dad is going to want to get his sanity back with a good comedy. There are so many good comedies out there from each decade, that it will be hard to pick one he won't like. The only way you could go wrong with your pick is if he already has that movie. I would even say that getting dad a comedy movie is the no-brainer pick this Christmas.
A John Wayne or Clint Eastwood western will have dad fantasizing about shoot-outs in the "Old West". There is nothing more American than a rugged, gun-slinging cowboy. The westerns are one of the greatest genres in American movies. They portray times when men were men, life was hard and good triumphed over evil. Some of the more popular titles that dad may enjoy are: The Outlaw Josey Wales, High Noon, McLintock, Rio Bravo, High Plains Drifter, Unforgiven, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Open Range, Silverado, True Grit and Rooster Cogburn.
Action movies are another genre that men thoroughly enjoy. Like westerns, action movies typically pit the hero against either a villain or a villainous force. And don't forget, a good action film must have fights, car chases, gunplay or explosions. A really good action film will have all of that. We don't really care if the movie has a good storyline, we just want to see something blown up or someone beat up. Some of the top action films are: Die Hard, Braveheart, Raiders of the Lost Ark, First Blood, The Fifth Element, Escape from New York, The Terminator, The Patriot, Highlander, Iron Man, Robocop and Independence Day.
A couple CD's of dads favorite artists makes for an inexpensive gift that will get used long after Christmas. And if your dad loves Christmas music, several artists put out CD's of classic Christmas music. Maybe a boxed set of various classics is something that would appeal to him. Instead of just one artist, he will get hits from a variety of artists. Some artists have put out DVDs of their concerts, which include quite a lot of extra footage. Not only can he listen to their music, but he will get the feeling of actually seeing them in concert.
You want to get dad some music but don't know his favorite type. Then the best thing to get him is a gift card that lets him download his favorite MP3's after Christmas. It's a win-win situation, you gave him a great gift and he gets some of his favorite music. Downloading MP3's will let him put together his own mix of music. This way he has a CD of only the songs he wants. If you do know the type of music he enjoys, then a personally mixed CD is the way to go. There is nothing we dads like better than something made by our kids. If he has an MP3 player, then downloading MP3 songs is the best way to get the songs onto his player. He will be able to take his Christmas gift with him wherever he goes.
